Hope you're enjoying your summer...
These past few weeks on my new job have been a whirlwind as correspondent for the ABC program View from the Bay.
I have seen more places and met more people in a month than I have in a year—what a phenomenal experience! From literally playing with fire, interviewing celebs, checking out fall couture before New York Fashion week, traveling on eye-opening road trips and taking salsa lessons, this job has had too many cool moments to mention. Just the other day we got a call from the dance instructor at Club Cocomo, where I got my on-air salsa lesson, and he told us their usual class of 30 ballooned to over 150 people after the television piece aired! I just love that people are watching and getting actively engaged in the world we’re discovering everyday. The live aspect of creating something from nothing in different locations is a continuous challenge that I embrace, especially when we’re getting such positive feedback. The response to the show has been overwhelming, with ratings far surpassing those of the Tony Danza show, (the show that we replaced) hundreds of incoming e-mails, and thousands of downloaded streams—and all of this before our official launch in the fall! The show will be on hiatus the week of August 7th, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be working feverishly behind the scenes to come up with more exciting story ideas. Be sure to check out Monday’s show, when I’ll be interviewing Nicolas Cage, Maria Bello and Oliver Stone after getting a sneak preview of their latest film, World Trade Center. I'll be back with a full report of the movie, along with the inside scoop on Cage, Bello, and Stone. Five years later we are still in a tumultuous time, and it will be interesting to see how they treat such a serious subject matter in Hollywood.
